Moving to a new host, eventually

One thing I've found while working on the Skalendar site is that I've been running into a lot of roadblocks working on this host. It's just not meant to be as flexible as I'd like it to be, or as the site really needs it to be. Also, the user login and registration portion of the site has been frustrating, and I have no control over that. So, while I've been working on fixing bugs and making some updates here and there, I've also been working on building a new site from scratch. One I'll have complete control over and won't be tied to any proprietary systems or code. That also means I'm having to create everything, with some help. It'll take a little time, but things are moving along pretty well.
Some good things that will happen. Skalendar.com will point to it's own actual website, instead of being locked into the site I currently have and having Skalendar.com just point to it. It'll be separate from this site as well. I'll still link them to each other, but I won't have to pay way too much just to have two URLs. It's actually easier to have people help with development since multiple people can work on the UI at once since the entire UI isn't tracked with just a version number.
I'm really enjoying working with the new host and site so far. Of course, there are a lot of pages I'll need to create on the back end to handle some things that were already taken care of here, but that is the price of having more control over the site. Hopefully the next time I post I'll have something to show everyone. I already have scripts in place to move all of the data over once that's ready. I'm already playing with the new site using this sites data from yesterday.
